Shopfloor Equipment Integration at a New Automotive Plant in Mexico
Purpose
- Required a quick and easy connection between shopfloor equipment and their quality and reporting systems.
Project Scope
- Acquire, parse and format data from several machines where the vendor was unable/unwilling to adjust data output format to their quality system standard.
Solution Approach
- List all equipment needing connections to quality system.
- Collect and analyse sample files/data from the equipment.
- Design and implement solution in test environment and provide sample inputs.
- Roll-out/replicate solution into production systems.

- ATS Bus, File watcher, SQL Server 2016
The Results
All required equipment is now connected through ATS Bus, allowing them to connect new equipment to their systems without any further development, reducing their installation costs.
Improvements in system communication has decreased their time-to-production implementation.
The plant is a collaboration between three automotive producers and ATS Bus has been the main tool that has allowed them to communicate between their different production systems and equipment.
