Amafilter produces filter installation for the pharmaceutical industry. For this filter it is required that process data is available at any time needed. A Siemens S7 400 PLC is used to control the system and Wonderware InTouch is used for SCADA.
The choice was to implement Wonderware InSQL Server and Active Factory for visualisation, analysing and reporting the ‘real’ time and historical data.ATS was asked to implement InSQL Server plus Active Factory and implement communication between the PLC and the Wonderware applications.

The following configuration was applied. (See fig 1). The Siemens PLC is installed with an Ethernet card (CP443-1). The Database server is directly connected to the Siemens PLC with a CP1613 Ethernet card. This card is configured on the server with Siematic Net to assure a secure working card. On the server side a Wonderware I/O Server is implemented to handle the data acquisition for InSQL Server and InTouch.

InSQL Server uses a MS SQL Database server for data storage but there is no further configuration required at the MS SQL server. All configurations are completed upon installation and configuration of InSQL Server. With Active Factory it is possible to retrieve on-line data and historical data on basis of simple SQL queries. This can be done from any workstation connected to the network where InSQL server is located. Now it is possible for anyone with access rights to run his own report from the data available in the database server.Amafilter References
