In November 2016 I will go to Zambia with 35 other adventurers to cycle 600 kilometers in 7 days to raise each at least 3500 euros for Plan Zambia projects focusing on better future perspectives for children and with special focus on projects to stop child marriage, which happen a lot in Zambia.

I’m participating because turning 30 in two weeks got me thinking… When I was born in Zambia, I could have been a grandmother by now already (I suppose this might be great, but not at 30 already). I really value all the chances I’ve had for education and development and wish all children in the world have a chance on a good future. Marriage when you are below age 18, does not fit into that perspective.

When children, especially girls, don’t have to marry so young, this results in longer education, better health for them and their families, better income and so on. Hence, in the end the whole society benefits.
