ATS UK are seeking a suitable candidate to be responsible for the design and deployment of industrial IT solutions to leading UK manufacturers.

The Position

The candidate will deliver a suite of design documents to key customer stakeholders which will define in detail the solution of IT based systems. The documentation will be active and maintained throughout the project lifecycle and scrutinised through a variety of customer driven quality gates. Once the design has been approved, the Technical Leader will provide technical governance over the deployment project and provide approval that all technical requirements have been delivered.

Design documentation will include tactical and strategic hardware and software solutions from machine tool interfaces right up to server based MES & MI environments all of which have to meet exacting security requirements with the end result proven and tested in pilot environments (where feasible) or live production environments ideally with zero impact.

In addition, during the project lifecycle, the Technical Leader at times may be required to generate additional technical documentation to meet various customer requirements, and if necessary perform deployment activities.

The role will also involve the technical negotiation and definition of solutions from customer requirements to deliver Price Guides or formal Fixed Price Proposals to the customer as determined by the maturity of requirements and detail available all of which must frequently be completed in demanding timescales.

The Person

The candidate should have the ability to produce documentation to a very high standard whilst also pitching the content at an appropriate level and frequently under pressing time constraints for a number of concurrent projects.

The candidate will understand and document how each design will be deployed into the target infrastructure environment ensuring the solution gets approved by ATS and customer IT stakeholders and that technical and quality standards are maintained.

This documentation will require discussions and negotiations with 3rd parties and OEM’s to influence the technical solution and documentation requirements expected by the customer.

The candidate will contribute expertise in a broad range of IT solutions including applications, databases, operating systems, networks, security, testing, and performance.

This is primarily an office based role, where the individual will work to produce documentation which can be passed onto other ATS colleagues in the design & deploy teams.

Any one filling this role must be an excellent communicator, able to present ideas clearly and effectively both orally and written to internal and external audiences of all levels.

Enthusiasm, a very flexible “can do” attitude and a strong desire for success are character traits we are seeking. A willingness to travel is essential in this position to customer sites around the UK and potentially overseas, as is eligibility for SC and higher levels of security clearance.
