North American Automotive Manufacturer Chooses ATS for CM4D software

ATS has received a substantial order for ATS CM4D software at two plants in the USA and Mexico. This is the second phase of an ongoing ATS ADOS implementation at the customer which currently uses Inspect at three of its plants. Two of the plants will now deploy ATS CM4D within the warehouse to analyze the dimensional fit data on cabs and other assemblies. The project involves four concurrent user licenses of ATS CM4D Classic, which will be shared between the two facilities, and two, ten user Server Automation Workgroup licenses, one for each facility. This order demonstrates the trust that ATS builds with existing customers that allows large-scale, long-term quality projects to be envisioned and carried out. >>>


Automotive Stamping Supplier Chooses ATS CM4D for Product Quality Validation

One of the biggest automotive stamping suppliers in Canada and US which provides components to many automotive companies decided to find a replacement for its reporting system which was spreadsheet-based and required a lot of manual data entry. The decision was taken to implement ATS CM4D which is much more powerful thanks to its the analysis capabilities and advanced architecture. The customer was quickly convinced in a side by side test. Reports that took them hours to create originally were done in minutes using the product quality validation software.

This international automotive interior manufacturer will soon be using ATS CM4D Reporter (part of the ATS ADOS software suite) for quality validation, reporting and analysis in one of their plants in Germany. ATS CM4D fills the gap between the virtual design (CAD) and the physical world of manufacturing by highlighting differences between the geometric design specification and the “as built” data from a manufactured item. Dutch Truck Manufacturer Chooses ATS for Ignition Pro Implementation

This international truck manufacturer, with sales and service organizations in more than 100 countries has asked ATS to implement licenses for Ignition Pro (from Inductive Automation) at one of their plants in the Netherlands as their global standard for assembly line monitoring is Ignition SCADA. Aside from implementation ATS will also provide them with training and engineering support.

Global Carmaker in Slovakia uses an offline lab to evaluate Gap & Flush and Seal Gap characteristics on their cars. ATS was asked to streamline and automate the process of data collection, evaluation and reporting. Product quality validation software together with wireless electronic gauges and calipers were used to ensure that operators have freedom of movement to work around the car while following electronic onscreen instructions. >>>

Global carmaker located in Russia has placed an order for the ATS ADOS Door Velocity Measurement solution. The system will be placed within the production area so that measurements can be carried out before the vehicle leaves to the customer. In this way they can ensure that if issues are reported from the customer they have the data to show that the vehicle left the plant within specification. This is the latest order for this system that has also recently commissioned at other location and 3 other manufacturers in Turkey and in the UK. >>>


Automotive Giant Chooses ATS to Implement SmartEye Scanners in South Africa

The customer had already seen the benefits of the SmartEye scanners and custom database application that ATS had previously set up in their paintshop tracking system and so requested a further two scanners to be implemented on the line. This now allows the system to differentiate between local models and models destined for the European market. The European models are automatically sent to an extra wax booth to receive special treatment.

Airbags Blow Up Safely with Best Practices in the Automotive Industry
Visteon Berlin produces instrument panels for the latest Ford Car. The panel has an invisible door for the airbag and the door must operate properly if the airbag is activated. In this project state of the art software is implemented to track the production process, detect errors and make sure no unsafe product is shipped to the customer. By logging all critical process steps Visteon can store the data and provide Ford with production details at anytime. The software used is Activplant from EMT.

Presstran Industries is a division of the Cosma group, part of Magna International, one of the world’s largest tier 1 auto suppliers. Located in St. Thomas, Ontario, Presstran’s 300,000 square foot facility employs a staff of 800 in both its press and assembly departments. Presstran specializes in heavy steel stamping and robotic spot and mig welded assemblies. The facility ships over 200,000 chassis parts per day to various Magna operations, and to automakers in North America and Europe including DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and Jaguar.

Vision System Driver for Tyre Fabrication

Written in C, this application connects a camera with a TCP/IP network. The camera monitors the exact position of components being rolled onto a tyre during fabrication and the driver communicates the results to a PLC connected to a TCP/IP network. The PLC then issues instructions to motors to constantly adjust the positioning of the tyre components during fabrication. A very high speed process. >>>

Car Door Manufacturing

In this ground-breaking experimental project ATS wrote PLC, MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and SCADA software for a steel manufacturer who built a new plant to produce doors for a major car manufacturer. Laser welding separate door components has replaced the old method of producing doors from a single sheet of stamped metal. This significantly reduces the weight of the doors thus helping to improve fuel efficiency. The MES and SCADA software was written in SQL and Visual Basic. >>>

Dredger Simulation

In a related project to Dredging ATS provided a system integrator with simulation software to simulate all of the on-board I/O functions. >>>


Dredging

ATS has completed several projects with dredgers and successfully completed sea trials. Control of the suction and blowing arms, the pumps, engines, motors, dumping hatches etc. is achieved with on-board PLC’s. >>>


Zinc Production

After a major renovation of this plant the maintenance engineers were having problems with the new technology that had been introduced. ATS prepared a special training that included specially developed example programs to help the maintenance engineers use the PLC programming software to identify problems and finding solutions. The ATS Lecturer even developed some model hardware allowing the trainees to practice the effects of their programming, a very visual way of seeing the results of their efforts. >>>


Aluminium Extrusion and Coating

A complete installation was built and installed by a large German supplier and was installed in the Netherlands. After installation the operators requested changes in the SCADA application. ATS engineers were invited to discuss these requirements directly with the operators themselves and then implement changes to the software on-site. After completing the changes ATS arranged a tailor-made
training for the operators and maintenance staff after fully documenting the application. >>>
